Green Giraffe Nursery

The Green Giraffe Nursery is a childcare setting providing day care for children ages between 6 weeks and 5 years old.The Green Giraffe is a fully organic day nursery and has a higher teacher-to-child ratio than many other nurseries and our practitioners follow a gentle loving care and eco-friendly ethos.

As well as following the Montessori teaching method we combine our knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Phase alongside the work of other child theorists to provide all children in our care with a varied and balanced learning programme.

The Montessori Method gives children freedom of choice and movement in a prepared environment, to pursue their own interests and enjoy their own achievements where dignity, respect and independence are of paramount importance.

We provide a bilingual environment for our children with all activities carried out in English and Welsh. We would like to encourage all families who live in Wales to give their children the chance to learn Welsh language at a very early age. The children at this age are able to absorb two or more languages naturally. We can’t possibly give our children a better start in life than the knowledge of two or more languages.

Very careful consideration is given to the impact of everything in the Nursery environment upon all the senses of a young child to ensure that it is beautiful and gentle on the eye, ear and all the senses.

The physical space is designed to be home-like and as free from exterior distraction as possible. The scale of the space is not overwhelming to a small child, there are no ‘hard’ corners and it is decorated in soft tones and pastel colours to create a gentle, secure atmosphere.
