Nestlings Nursery is an award winning Nursery, providing the highest standard of nursery care and education within a unique environment in which children are actively encouraged to explore, learn and interact with others.

We have a great opportunity for the right person to join our Nest Family in Cardiff City Centre as an Early Years Practitioner. The nursery has a fantastic setting with lots of opportunities for the right candidate to excel and develop their career.

Nestlings Nursery is a bilingual setting so Welsh language is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • To assist the nursery team in providing a friendly, caring and relaxing environment in order to encourage and develop children in our care.
  • To have a key person role within the room and work alongside the other Nursery practitioners. Role modelling good practice activities in the room and outside.
  • To work in close partnership with the leaders and managers to ensure a consistent approach throughout the nursery.
  • To ensure all daily routines are adhered to.
  • Adopt a creative and innovative approach towards practice, by being open to opportunities for improvements.
  • In line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Phase; plan and provide safe, appropriate, child-led and adult initiated experiences, activities and play opportunities indoor, outdoor and in out-of-setting contexts, which enable children to develop and learn.
  • Select, prepare and use a range of resources suitable for children’s ages, interests and abilities, taking account of diversity and promoting equality and inclusion.
  • Maintain children’s records and carry out assessments.
  • Settle in new children and provide on-going support, under a key worker system, liaising with parents and maintaining good communications.
  • To assist in maintaining a safe, clean and tidy Nursery.
  • To ensure nursery policies for health, hygiene and safety are adhered to, with particular attention to hygiene practices and the prevention of accidents.
  • Respect confidentiality within the setting and maintain high standards of conduct in keeping with the nursery.

The ideal applicant:

  • Experience working as an Early Years Professional/Teacher within a setting
  • Have an understanding of the requirements set by CIW Knowledge of the Foundation Phase Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding issues Experience of working in partnership with parents and outside agencies.
  • Managing and maintaining administration requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Welsh language
  • Beneficial to have had Phonics / Early Maths / Literacy training
