Early Years Wales Awards

The Early Years Wales Awards have been designed to bring to the forefront the passion and dedication our members bring to the early years, childcare and play sector in Wales. We believe our members lead the way in setting the standard for everyone within our industry – this is your chance to be recognised and celebrated.

We will be awarding in the following categories:

  • Early Years Wales Setting of the Year – two categories
  • Early Years Wales Practitioner of the Year
  • Early Years Wales Volunteer of the Year
  • Early Years Wales Learner of the Year
  • Early Years Wales Outdoor space – two categories
  • Early Years Wales Community
  • Early Years Wales Environmental Champion

When you make a nomination you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions

  1. All Nominees must have current membership of Early Years Wales, or be a staff member or volunteer within an Early Years Wales member setting
  2. Nominations are welcome from anyone* nominators must supply contact details on the nomination form, no anonymous nominations will be accepted.
  3. Previous Early Years Wales Award winners who are nominated for the same Award in successive years will need to show evidence of progression or change.
  4. *Employees of Early Years Wales are not eligible to be nominated or make a nomination for these awards.
  5. There will be no cost to enter the Awards.
  6. Nominations must be received by 5pm on 12th November 2021. Nominations received after this time will not be considered
  7. All member settings and staff that have been nominated will be contacted by 19th November 2021 to inform them of their nomination and to obtain their written permission to continue with the nomination
  8. Only evidence submitted on the nomination forms will be considered as well as reading your latest CIW and Estyn inspection reports, and looking at your settings social media pages where appropriate
  9. Further evidence may be requested from shortlisted entries
  10. All evidence will only be accepted electronically via awards page on website  
  11. All evidence must be submitted by 5pm on 12th November 2021 and evidence received after this time will be excluded from the judging process.
  12. Any queries regarding nominations  must be made via [email protected] no correspondence will be entered into once closing date has passed.
  13. Should a nominee wish to withdraw from the Awards process this must be done in writing via email to [email protected] by 5pm, 18th November 2021.
  14. Nominators may be contacted by the Awards panel
  15. Each award category will have a short list of three nominees. Shortlisted nominees will be invited to a virtual members awards event.
  16. Winners and nominees of Awards must agree to have their names, photographs and case studies used for publicity and promotion of the event, details will be used across Early Years Wales social media accounts, website and publications.
  17. The Award panel will be made up of staff, trustees, members of Early Years Wales and an external representative from the sector. All panel members will be required to complete a conflict of interest and confidentiality form.
  18. Early Years Wales reserves the right to withdraw any or all Awards
  19. Shortlisted nominees will be announced and invitations to the awards event will be issued in the week commencing.
  20. The awards event will be recorded and made available to watch on our Early Years Wales website and social media channels.
  21. Decisions of the Awards panel are final and no further communication will be entered into.

  1. Check the time and date that entries have to be in by, give yourself plenty of time in case technology lets you down.
  2. Read the terms and conditions carefully.
  3. Check out the category descriptions which best apply to you.
  4. Carefully read the questions you must answer before you start the entry form put them in draft form.
  5. Check your word count (400 per answer).
  6. Get all your evidence together before you start your entry.
  7. Read carefully and then read everything again.
  8. Keep your answers simple.
  9. Don’t hold back this is the time to tell us about yourself or your setting, speak from the heart .
  10. Ask someone neutral to look at your entry.
