Welsh Government announce increase in education funding within childcare offer

Early Years Wales is very pleased to hear the announcement to increase funding to the non-maintained sector for early education, enabling local authorities to align the funding to the Childcare Offer rate (£4.50).

foundation phase

Along with Cwlwm partners, Early Years Wales has been calling for a review of the early education funding for some time and we are pleased to receive this positive news.

The written statement from Kirsty Williams MS and Julie Morgan MS said ‘This funding will help give the sector greater sustainability. We believe this is especially important after a difficult 2020 where the role of the sector has been absolutely critical in our fight against the pandemic and in supporting our children and critical workers.’ And we couldn’t agree more, the response of our members to the challenges of the pandemic have been outstanding and we are pleased to read this recognition from the Ministers today.
