Early Years Wales announces plans to develop an inclusive and diverse healthy snack resource

Food, traditions and rituals that surround it, are linked to feelings of belonging | cynefin and connection.

In the setting environment, children are encouraged to talk about and share their home life. Providing foods that are familiar help children make that connection between school and home, which in turn supports well-being and health.

When we introduce different foods and cultures to children, we are creating ethical, informed citizens who are knowledgeable about their culture, community, society and the world.

How do you encourage those connections through food? Do you have an inclusive and diverse snack menu? Do you regularly offer food that originates from the heritage and culture of different ethnic groups? Do you talk about the food you offer and help to make those connections with the children and their families in your setting? If yes, then we would love to hear from you.
