Anti-racist classroom practice in the Early Years.

Meeta and Robb will be offering two 90-minute zoom workshops designed both to provide participants with strategies that challenge & dismantle racist prejudice, and to reinforce participants confidence in and commitment to implementing those strategies.

The workshops will consist of a brief consideration of the importance of anti-racist practice in 2025, & then move on to the practical use of the Persona Doll method with children. Participants will learn how to introduce Persona Dolls into their daily practice as an effective anti racist strategy.

Central to the Persona Doll method is the importance of conversation and safe space, allowing children to reflect on issues like exclusion and unfairness at an appropriate level. The course will include opportunities for participants to reflect on these issues as they are likely to arise in our work with young children and also in our interactions with the parent and career community. Participants will discuss real life scenarios, sharing responses and lived experiences.

There will also be a takeaway task between the first and second sessions, that will allow participants to reflect on the current priorities facing their setting.

Learners are required to attend both sessions to complete the training
