Movement Schemes and Schema Play Curriculum

This training aims to provide an understanding of the role of movement in schema play and to be able to apply an embodied playful presence to promoting children's play, interests and fascinations in the curriculum

Learning Objectives
  • Attend to features of playful, embodied engagement in learning
  • Identify embodied learning from a prior learning experience
  • Explain the main features of embodied learning
  • Analyse a drawing for operational schemes and figurative schemas
  • Investigate affordances in the zone of proximal developmental flow in free play with loose parts
  • Collaborate with others to create an environment of choice for a child working with a concept of "insideness"
  • Explore possibilities from a case study to plan a focused activity to support the evolution of the child's play
