Venue:
We will be encouraging open discussions about what some of the difficult conversations are perceived to be and how it feels to be trying to have them. We will explore the use of language and why it matters and how it can help or hinder the dialogue.
We will consider the difference between being empathetic and sympathetic and why it matters. We will bring in examples of parent carers experiences throughout and reflect upon how that could shape our future conversations.
- What makes a difficult conversation difficult?
- Why the language we use is important
- Empathy vs Sympathy
- Validating emotions
