This one-hour webinar introduces our series of focused masterclasses designed to support practitioners in embedding anti-racist practice across early years settings. It will set the foundation by reflecting on why anti-racism is essential in the early years, how children's racial identity develops, and your vital role in shaping inclusive, equitable environments where every child and family feels they belong.
- Set the context: Why anti-racism matters in the early years and how it connects to the vision of an Anti-Racist Wales by 2030.
- Explore children's perspectives: What research tells us about how young children see race, identity, and fairness.
- Reflect on leadership roles: How leaders influence staff culture, family partnerships, and daily practice.
- Preview the Masterclass Series: This is a snapshot of the five practical sessions: Leading for Belonging, Challenging Conversations with Confidence, From Policy to Playground, Anti-Racism and Additional Learning Needs, and Staff and Personal Development Through an Anti-Racist Lens.
This introduction will give you the language, confidence, and direction to take forward into the deeper dives offered in each 30-minute masterclass.
