Level 2 and/or Level 3 Nursery Practitioners
Essential:
- Level 3 or above qualification in Early Years Childcare
- Level 2 qualification in Early Years Childcare - willing to complete a Level 3 qualification if required
- Experience of working with babies and young children
Desirable:
- Food hygiene Level 2
- Allergy awareness training
- Prevent training
- Paediatric first aid
- Safeguarding CPD Level 3
- Forest School Leader
We are looking for someone with a passion for working with children of all ages in a nursery Forest School environment and who enjoys being on an adventure every day! You must not be afraid of getting muddy or encouraging children to taking safe risks to enhance their development. Exploring, investigating and developing a curious mind is essential at Nestlings Forest School and Day Nursery. We aim to enable the children who attend to connect with nature while learning lifelong independent skills.
We are looking for someone who is happy to be outdoors in all weathers*, transporting materials, planning and setting up engaging activities that give children the opportunity to explore while sparking awe and wonder. You must be competent and experienced in communicating with parents/carers and understand to importance of working as a team with staff and parents. You will be required to be familiar with using online platforms to track and record childrens overall development.
In addition to these tasks, but not limited to, you will be expected to undertake the following:
- Ensure childrens Luven Scales information is kept up dated
- Develop Health and Wellbeing plans for children as needed
- Ensure onsite security
- First Aid documentation and resources to be completed
- Communication with parents/carers on handovers
- Support children and parents during transition
- Safeguard children against weather conditions such as ensuring they remain warm and dry in all weathers and that sun safety procedures are followed
- Ensure childrens personal hygiene is taken care of
- Support children to transition from nappies to using the toilet/potty
- Ensure individual daily record documentation is completed
- Ensure Information shared with parents/carers daily via our online account
- Read, follow and uphold Nestlings Forest School and Day Nursery's policies and risk assessments
- Lead by example when dealing with behaviours and ensure a positive approach is taken to dealing with childrens unwanted behaviour
- Implement an 'active supervision approach' to monitoring childrens actions and whereabouts
- Take children for walks within the local area
- When playing in the woods or off site ensure children are wearing a high visibility vest
- Cleaning duties which include but not limited to; mopping of floors and of cleaning equipment and shelters at the end of each day
- Reset and tidy away toys for the next session
- Be prepared to undertake statutory and non-statutory CPD training
- Attend month staff meetings
The role will also require you to provide the highest quality care, which must be reflected in your practice. This position is subject to an enhanced and ongoing DBS check, two references and completion of a successful six month induction period.
8.00am - 5.45pm
