Encouraging healthy purchasing amongst all individuals in Wales will only have a positive net effect on children in the early years, as parents and carers will have more knowledge about making healthy choices which benefit the development of the child in their life.
Good nutrition is crucial in supporting children in a period when their bodies are growing rapidly, as well as laying the foundations for a healthy lifestyle which prevents future health issues in later life.
Leo Holmes, Head of Policy and Advocacy for Early Years Wales, said
"This is a really positive move from the Welsh Government, seeking to promote the importance of healthy eating and nutrition in all communities across Wales. This will only have a positive impact on the development of young children, as more conscious decisions will be taken about the quality of nutrition they are receiving"
