Meet our trustees: Lisa Owen

In celebration of Trustee Week 2022, we thought we'd introduce you to some of our amazing trustees. Next up...Lisa Owen!

Lisa Owen

We asked Lisa to tell us a bit about herself and what led her to sit on the Board of Trustees for Early Years Wales, and this is what she had to say...

My career began in Hospitality and Catering which is how I came to purchase a public house. It was this building that I converted into a Full Day Care Nursery. It started as a 26 place Nursery back in 1999 and now is registered for 70 and thankfully is thriving.

During my years I have supported many people to start up companies from dance schools to international chauffeur companies.

I originally became a trustee of Early Years Wales in 2009, when my then development worker strong-armed me into getting involved! I didn’t think I would have much to offer when I started out, but soon came to the realisation how much information I had and how important it is to represent my sector.

In the early days, there were areas that I didn’t know much about, but that was okay as there are other trustees around the table who have that knowledge so you can listen and learn.

Ultimately you give and the organisation gives back so it’s a win-win.
