The sun was shining on the Eisteddfod this year, with glorious multicoloured flags and stalls painting the canvas for as far as the eye could see. Teeming with thousands of attendees from far and wide coming together in celebration of Welsh culture and heritage, the Eisteddfod always provides a great day out for all of the family.
Walking around the site, we were treated to fantastic musical performances from school choirs, tightly choreographed and athletic dance shows, and fascinating arts and crafts installations depicting significant historical and cultural moments.
We were delighted to connect with other organisations in attendance at the Eisteddfod such as Mudiad Meithrin and Shelter Cymru, as well as attend a discussion covering Health, care and the Welsh Language hosted by Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.
On top of all of this, we were pleased to see a dedicated kids zone, entertaining and engaging children from as young as a couple of months, individuals in their early teens. Teaching children through the medium of Welsh is incredibly important for the survivability of the Welsh language. Supporting cognitive development of the language within the Early Years lays the foundations for fluency in adulthood.
Therefore, it was great to see the kids zone offering a space for children to learn, and parents to pick up tips and tricks for how to support their child's learning of the language, even when they were learning the language themselves.
