Job description: 

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced person to develop and manage our ‘out of school hours’ provision – ‘Acorns’ (Nursery+) and ‘After School Club’.

The position will begin from 8th January 2024.

Rate of pay 
£13.69 per hour – equivalent of a Level 4 TA (Paid term time only plus 5.6 weeks holiday, to be taken during school holidays. Salary is pro rata’d so you receive a monthly wage)

Experience & Skills Required

  • Level 3 Diploma in playwork
  •  f you hold a CCLD/CACHE/QCF Childcare level 3 qualification or equivalent, you will be supported to complete the ‘top up’ level 3 award in ‘Transition to playwork’ as person in charge of the After School Club. 
  • Significant and recent experience of working with children across the age ranges.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Exceptional knowledge of the Foundation Phase and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Ability to implement CIW and Estyn standards.
  • Good Literacy and Numeracy skills Responsibilities would include: • Ensuring the children are cared for in a happy, safe and stimulating environment
  • Planning and preparing activities tailored to the children's individual needs
  • Maintaining staff ratios and managing staff (including annual appraisal)
  • Implementing and reinforcing the policies, procedures and processes within the setting
  • Keeping all necessary paperwork up to date, including an annual self-evaluation for CIW
  • Managing bookings and fees via ParentPay
  • Sourcing external funding
  • Creating strong links with parents by providing them with the information, support and communication that is required
  • Liaising with outside agencies where necessary (e.g. social services, CIW, etc)
  • Taking the clubs through inspection
  • Promoting the clubs and building the numbers
  • Completing all necessary training (first aid, food hygiene, safeguarding, etc)

Hours of work: 

Hours of work are negotiable but will be over 5 days - Monday to Friday. Maximum hours available – 43 hours, 45 mins (8.30am to 5.30pm daily with 45 mins unpaid break a day)
