The refurbishment includes a brand-new Wraparound Childcare facility named The School House. The School House will offer Little Miners Nursery plus provision every day from 11.30am until 3.00pm (3 to 4 years) and an After School Club from 3.00pm until 6.00pm (3 to 11 years), Monday to Friday during school term time. This is a very exciting time in the life of our school, and we are delighted to be able to support families in our local community.

The Person in Charge will be responsible for leading the day to day running of the After School provision and ensuring the delivery of a high standard of learning, development and care for children using After School Club as well as providing a safe and exciting play environment where children can play freely. The facility will be used by the school for Early Entitlement as part of our Nursery provision in the mornings until 11.30am. Little Miners will use the facility every day from 11.30am until 3pm. The After School Club Person in Charge will work under the direction of The School House’s manager and will lead our After School Club provision (3 to 11 years) every day from 3.05pm to 5 or 6pm).

Responsibilities will include:

  • Creating a shared vision for After School Club.
  • Providing high quality childcare, with a passion for children’s wellbeing, and advocating for children’s right to play.
  • Working with the school and The School House manager to create and sustain an inspirational environment, where our children are happy and safe.
  • Leading the day to day running of After School Club, supervising our team of Playworkers, building positive relationships with families and planning play-based activities which engage the children and support all aspects of their learning and development.
  • Liaising closely with school staff and Little Miners in developing and using the shared facility.
  • Ensuring the provision meets and, where possible, exceeds the ‘National Minimum Standards for Regulated Childcare for children up to the age of 12 years’ and ensuring all the settings’ policies and practices are followed.
  • Working with outside agencies where appropriate to support children with Additional Learning Needs.
  • Ensuring the safeguarding of all children and reporting to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (School House manager) any incidents or concerns.
  • Adhering to all risk assessments and Health and Safety Procedures.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to own ongoing professional learning and attending and implementing or facilitating appropriate training.
  • Leading the documenting of children’s progress and experience in the setting and providing updates for parents.
  • Contributing to the appraisal of the playworkers.
  • Supporting professional learning for all staff.
  • Providing regular updates on the quality of the provision for The School House manager and Committee
