We are looking for a Deputy Manager/2nd in charge for our beautiful nursery in Roath. If you are interested in pursuing this early years opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:
- Qualified Nursery Nurse (Level 3 CCLD, Early Years Degree with EYPS)
- Level 4 and 5 in leadership and management
- CCLD is desirable but not essential
- Welsh Speaking is desirable but not essential.
- Experience working in the early years as a senior nursery practitioner, team leader or deputy manager
- Experience in leadership and mentoring
- Experience /knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- Two recent references are required; one of which must be from an educational setting Interest in the Montessori Method of teaching
We are looking for nursery professionals with the following skills:

- Above average organisational skills with the ability to work on your own leadership skills

What is the purpose of the job?
The role of the Deputy Manager is to assist the Nursery Manager in providing professional leadership and day-to-day management of the nursery when required . To provide a safe and secure environment where each child is respected as an individual and is encouraged to grow in confidence and independence. Maintain professional at all times and uphold and role model the Green Giraffe Nursery Gentle loving care ethos and Montessori Etiquette. The Deputy Manager will undertake the overall day-to-day management of the nursery when the nursery manager is not present and well as supporting the staff in the playrooms.
What do you have to achieve?
- High standards of care and education whilst meeting the individual needs of each child;
- Compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements/ bodies, such as Care Inspectorate Wales;
- Ensure staff feel supported in their roles through mentoring and identifying training needs;
- Maintain and develop partnership working with all stakeholders;
Key Tasks:
- Assist the Nursery Manager with the effective day-to-day management of the nursery.
- Deputy designated safeguarding lead.
- To make positive contributions and suggestions that will assist the overall development of the nursery.
- Support the Nursery Manager during inspections by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) and assist in the implementation of any recommendations.
- Ensure that the nursery is operating effectively
- Through reflective observations, support, monitor and recommend improvements for quality assurance in all working areas.
