The School House offers Little Miners Nursery plus provision every day from 11.30am until 3.00pm (3 to 4 years) and an After-School Club from 3.00pm until 6.00pm (3 to 11 years), Monday to Friday during school term time. This is a very exciting time in the life of our school, and we are delighted to be able to support families in our local community.

The Playworker will be responsible for supporting the day to day running of the After-School Club and delivering a high standard of learning, development and care for children using the Club as well as providing a safe and exciting play environment where children can play freely. The School House will be a shared facility so working with the school staff and Little Miners will be a critical part of this role. The facility will be used by the school for Early Entitlement as part of their Nursery provision in the mornings until 11.30am. Little Miners will use the facility every day from 11.30am until 3.00pm.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working under the direction of the Person in Charge and Senior Playworker to sustain our inspirational environment, where our children are happy and safe.
  • Supporting the day to day running of the After-School Club, building positive relationships with children and their families.
  • Contributing to the planning of play-based activities which engage the children and support their interests as well as all aspects of their learning and development.
  • Ensuring the play environment remains safe and children are secure within it at all times.
  • Liaising closely with the Person in Charge and Senior Playworker in developing and using the shared facility.
  • Ensuring the provision meets and, where possible, exceeds the 'National Minimum Standards for Regulated Childcare for children up to the age of 12 years' and following all the settings' policies and practices.
  • Working with outside agencies where appropriate to support children with Additional Learning Needs, care plans and/or medical needs.

  • Adhering to all risk assessments and Health and Safety Procedures.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to own ongoing professional learning and attending and implementing appropriate training.
  • Contributing to the documenting of children's progress and experience in the setting and providing updates for parents.
  • Openly discuss the quality of the provision with the Person in Charge and Senior Playworker who will then provide regular updates for The School House manager and Committee
